Default Be careful washing your base!

Just a heads up. I followed some tips on cleaning my rig. I went with vinegar and baking soda. I swirled it around inside my base for a bit and dumped it out. Rinsed and tried it. However, the cleaning mixture is a bit abrasive to the paint on my KM base. I have a gold striped one, and it took some of the paint off cleanly. So i'd recommend keeping that cleaning solution away from paint and rinse it off, let it dry before touching it.

Every base I own, except for my Boho, has had issues with the paint coming off.
The $10 KM base from UH was mostly stripped from just running hot water over it, so I finished the job with a brillo pad.
Two of my KM bases (one is 2 years old, one is 6 months old) have paint coming off them.
My 2 month old Syrian base is starting to lose paint.

And I hardly ever thoroughly clean out my bases. When I do, I put white vinegar in the base with hot water and let it sit, then dab the outside with a damp paper towel to get any ash stuck in the designs cleaned off.

They just don't make them like they used to...

edit - Also, having a base protector on 2 of my KM bases took off paint. Never took it off or moved it around, either.
I have also found that adding ice to the base = condensation that wears the paint down too.

Egyptian stuff is the worst in terms of that - never had a problem with any of my Lebanese/Syrian/Turkish glass

yeah my paints coming off too, but cleaning man, all you need is some dawn, scrub, rinse out, then epsom salt, swish in circles for a minute, rinse out very thoroughly, leaves that bitch sparkling

I have an MZ, a little over 2 years old, and the paint is mostly off the echo base. I'm toying with the idea of getting even more lazy and cleaning it in the dishwasher.

Anytime there is paint on mine it always fades or comes clean off. Simply using water and it still comes off.

Just use warm water and the brushes... No need for organize and chemicals... If you have to use a dish washing detergent or something for the base.

Yah happened to my base when I used oxyclean. A little bit of blue washed off my base. That etching stuff looks amazing! Did you end up buying the cream Kelvin?
