Default Ashing coals

so i use coco jamras, occasionally 3 kings, and these coals produce some ash. now ive been ashing them by picking them up an dropping them 2 inches onto my tray which has been doing a good job, but also breaks a coal (like 1 time in 200 drops) so im just thinking there has to be a better way to remove the ash, how do you reccomend i do it?

Looks like a nice way to build a nice thick ash coating all over the floor and furniture.

I don't ash, I find it keeps everything working better. I know I'm not the only one either.

^ this right here. Or at the very most ash once during a bowl if you rotate the coals. Ashing the coals takes away a lot of the control you have over heat management and with really sensitive moassels you can actually burn them easier. If you're a second round of coals kind of guy you will find that ashing the coals and applying a new blast of heat will take away from the life of your bowl and start to burn things. With brands like Nakhla and Tangiers ashing only hurts stuff.

I am not an asher either, in the rare occasion I put on a second round of coals I will scrape the ashes from the first round before I put on the second, but I have only done that twice in my life.

I am a second round of coals kind of guy but I do not ash the first set of coals until the second round is ready to go on, then I scrape the first set of coals off and sometimes blow off any excess ash on the bowl and put the second round of coals on.
