Default Three Kings Coal

Who smokes their hookah using Three Kings Coal? How do you like it and is that the only brand of coal you smoke? I remember trying out Starbuzz quick light coals, sultan, and coconara as well as fantasia's natural coal. I usually smoke three kings and smokes pretty good with changing the coal every 20 minutes or so. Fantasia natural coal is pretty good too and lasts a good 35-40 minutes.

Quick-light coals in general are frowned upon in these parts. Among other issues, they have various chemical accelerants that impact the taste of the tobacco, as well as present possible additional health risks.

They also do not burn as long or as well as natural coals.

Get yourself some natural coconut coals (coco-nara or coco-mazaya are widely available) and try them, you won't miss the quick-lights.

You'll need a stove burner to light them on- coil-type electric is the norm, but a cake rack and a gas burner will work too. You can also get a portable single electric or gas burner specifically for lighting your coals with.

Once you get those, hop back on and one of us will help you get them lit properly.

Three Kings is made in Holland from good quality. They take about a minute or 2 to get started with a lighter. I've smoked natural coals and I'm pretty impressed with the way they smoke. So I can't say no to natural. If I will switch to natural I will need to get a hot plate which is only available through the internet.

Get the hot plate. (failing that, you could always go with an UglyBiker rig).

I think even the best quick lights will ruin flavor of any hookah flavor. Just had 3 kings at lounge and I couldn't taste anything except the charcoal after taste.

Quick lights indeed change the flavor. You'll never actually know how it should taste if you use quick lights. Perhaps it is easier in certain situations, perhaps in a friends backyard and no way to light coconut(etc) coals. I use a portable electric cooktop and if I know im going somewhere that we generally smoke I make sure to bring it along with coals. Matter of fact, since im a control freak, I bring shisha, coals, cooktop, all of the above!

My favorite coals so far are:
Fantasia air flow, coconut: By design they are pretty good plus they tend to last pretty long. I've heard of people getting headaches from them but not anybody I know of.

CoCo mazaya:In my opinion they are better then the CoCo Nara's because they tend to last longer. The thing I do like about the flat naras is when you stand them up, less is touching the foil, a better heat/contact ratio if you will.

CoCo Lava: I recently got these at a new hookah shop and I needed coals and thats what the guy recommended. They are bigger and last even longer then the Mazayas.

I don't find any of these to have any kind of taste if lite properly and generally last pretty long. Fits my criteria.

I think these are the absolute worst in my opinion they impact the taste a lot and you have to change them quite often pick up the hot plate! So worth it!

One should avoid any of the quicklite coals for hookah. These contain sulfur, accelerants. These will produce a higher content of carbon monoxide that will give you headaches. Ask me how I know this.

Ever since I switched to the natural coconut coals, smoking has been more pleasurable.

NO TO QUICKLITES.

I've tried 3 Kings coals. I currently use Fantasia's Wooden Airflow charcoals (Because they are the most conveniently obtainable coals here, as I kinda get them for free, not particularly because they are my favorite. ) I used to smoke them a lot, they are the best quicklights I've had, and of course that doesn't necessarily make them "good" because they *are* quicklights.

If I was gonna go to a beach or something, and I needed to fire up some quicklights. They would definitely be 3kings because they do burn hot, and they do have a cleaner taste than most quicklights I've tried.

I personally think 3 kings are overpriced. Between them and the other quicklights I've tried they all taint the flavor. That said I still keep a sleeve around for emergencies. I use that fantasia wood airflows regularly though. I keep a blowtorch in my desk to light them with.

I think 3 kings are by far the best coals, I tried to smoke the square coals and the little coals, but there was just not enough smoke.
